For the second straight postseason, hockey fans are in for a treat as Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby will square off in the second round of the playoffs.

Obviously the series is much bigger than Crosby versus, Ovi, but that's the only matchup that's going to be talked about up until Game 1 Thursday and throughout the series.

The two superstars will be forever linked in hockey history, and in order for Ovi to chase down Sid from a legacy perspective, he needs a series win and a Stanley Cup win.

Ahead of what should be an incredible series, here are three stats you should know about Crosby vs. Ovi heading in.

Third Time's the Charm

This will be just the third playoff series in which Crosby and Ovechkin will face each other.

The first two times the two superstars met, Crosby and the Penguins came out on top.

In 13 head-to-head games against Crosby in the postseason, Ovechkin has 21 points compared to Sid's 15.

10 of those 21 points for Ovi are goals, but he only scored twice against Pittsburgh in last year's six-game series

If history repeats itself a third time, then the winner of this matchup will go on to win the Stanley Cup.

Crosby and the Pens beat Ovi and the Caps in the second round in their last two Cup-winning seasons (2008-09, 2015-16)
