Since free agency officially opened on Canada Day, Montreal fans have been patiently waiting for Alexander Radulov to re-sign with the team.

Sunday, Habs fans got an extension instead, but we imagine they weren't upset about it.

#BREAKING: The #MontrealCanadiens have signed #CareyPrice to an eight-year, $84 million extension.

Remember when Marc Bergevin said Carey Price wouldn't be traded?  Well, this probably makes that official as Price signed an eight-year, $84 million extension with the only team he's every played for.

The 29-year-old (soon to be 30 in August) has been Montreal's backbone for so many years, and with him in between the pipes, they have a chance to win a Stanley Cup every single year.

We're not here to talk about Cups, though.  No, we're here to talk numbers, specifically four insane numbers regarding Price's monster extension.

$10.5 Million

Price's extension puts him in elite company, and deservedly so.  He's now the highest-paid goalie in the NHL and in terms of AAV, he's up there with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.
$70 million

Not much needs to be said about this number other than wow.

14%

Carey has been Montreal's best player for a long time, and this contract extension certainly proves his value.

That said, 14% of a team's payroll is a lot, and history won't be on Price's side in that regard.

37

Thanks to this extension, chances are Price spends his entire career in Montreal, which is fitting considering he's now the team's highest-paid player ever.
Obviously the deal is a big win for Montreal, and the team's fans were thrilled once the news broke.
