Sometimes as fans, we watch an athlete make a mistake and think to ourselves that if we were in the same position, we wouldn't have made that mistake.

Watching from the stands or on television makes the game look so easy, but that couldn't be farther from the truth, and that's what we fail to remember sometimes as fans.

Yes, these are the best athletes in the world getting paid a ton of money, but that doesn't mean their job is any easier to do.

Take hockey players, for example.  Scoring goals and racking up points year in and year out is just expected of players, and for good reason, but it's not that simple.  Slumps happen, injuries occur, roles change, and sometimes a fantastic season is hard to replicate.

Just ask Duncan Keith, who scored his first goal of the season Sunday against the Sharks in his 34th game.  Sure, he's been racing up assists, but for a guy who plays as much as Keith does, you would think he would have scored his first goal before now.

With that in mind, here are 5 other notable names still looking for their first goal of the season as we near the halfway point.

Riley Sheahan, Detroit Red Wings

Coming off of a season in which he scored a career-high 14 goals, Riley Sheahan has yet to find the back of the next for the Red Wings.

It's not for a lack of trying, though, as he has 83 total shot attempts in 32 games.

Cody Eakin, Dallas Stars

Injuries and suspensions have limited Eakin to just 14 games this season, but he has just one assist and no goals in those games.

The Stars forward is a proven scorer, though, with goal totals of 16, 19, and 16 over the last three seasons.

Colton Parayko, St. Louis Blues

After a rookie season in which he scored 9 goals, Colton Parayko hasn't lit the lamp yet this season despite averaging more minutes per game than last season.

Still, he does have an impressive 14 assists in 32 games.

Alexander Burmistrov, Winnipeg Jets

The Jets have a ton of offensive talent, and that includes Burmistrov, who returned to the NHL last season and scored 7 goals in 81 games.

So far this season, though, Burmistrov hasn't found the back of the net in 23 games.

Francois Beauchemin, Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche have struggled this year to say the least, but it would be a shame if 36-year-old Francois Beauchemin went the entire season without scoring a goal.

There are still a lot of games to go, but Beauchemin could potentially not score a goal in a season for the first time since the 2005-06 season in which he played just 11 games.
