Last night’s game between Pittsburgh and Washington was one of the rare marquee games to surpass the hype it had going in.

With Sidney Crosby vs. Alex Ovechkin and two of the top teams in the league facing off, all of the pieces were there for a great matchup, but in the regular season, sometimes it’s the games you least expect that are the most exciting. Not last night. Just looking at the score line you can see how crazy the game was, but OT was just icing on the cake.

Having the possibility of watching Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel and Crosby playing at different times in 3-on-3 is something special.

On a special night like that, you’re also bound to have some crazy stats. With 15 goals total, we saw people on social media going crazy, a weird connection with Crosby and the number 87 and much more. Still, there were a ton of stats that shocked us in the aftermath. Here were our top 6 stats to come from the game.

Déjà vu

While everybody is calling for more goals in the NHL (We don’t disagree), one thing positive about the current state of the NHL is that it makes games like this one that much more special.
