Buffalo Sabres fans haven't had a whole lot to be happy about for the past few seasons, but it finally looks like their youth rebuild is coming together nicely.

With the 8th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft the Buffalo Sabres selected American centre Casey Mittelstadt.  Sunday, the 18-year-old Minnesota native made his NCAA Hockey debut with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, and oh boy did he make a lasting impression.

Watch as the centre controls the puck, dangles his way past multiple defenders, passes to himself and sticks with the play to finish it all off with a goal. You will have to forgive the grainy quality of the video.

Now, admittedly it took us about 30 rewinds and a magnifying glass to really get the full picture of what happened, but once we did, we finally fell out of our chair. Talk about dominating the offensive zone. Absolutely none of those defenders could shake Mittelstadt off the puck, and we're pretty sure a few of them are still looking for where he put it. Hint, it's in the back of the net.

Feel free to start freaking out Sabres fans.
