We’ve known Cleveland Cavaliers’ superstar LeBron James for a long time, so we sometimes forget that when we first met the phenomenon he was just a 16-year-old boy from Akron, Ohio, playing for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The youngster was mature beyond his years, and looking to win as many high school championships as he could.

After that, we followed his rise to super-stardom with the Cavs, we watched ‘The Decision’ to take his “talents to South Beach,” the Miami Heat championships, and finally his return to Cleveland and the successful quest to bring a title home. We’ve watched him make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and grow into the man he is today.

But after all the change that occurred over those years, has he really changed when it comes to his drive and desires to win and get better?

After watching this clip of James from 2001, we couldn’t help but notice just how similar a 16-year-old James talks to the way James speaks about the game today.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, we guess. And James mindset when it comes to basketball is certainly one of those things that will always stay the same, and it’s a key reason he’s one of the greatest players of all-time.
