On Monday, the Vegas Golden Knights made their first player transaction by signing Reid Duke of the Brandon Wheat Kings to a three-year entry level deal.

Duke, a 21-year-old, will now go down in history as the first player part in Vegas' franchise, and a lot of pressure comes with being the first player chosen or signed by an expansion franchise.

That being said, history has proven that an expansion franchise's first player usually doesn't make an impact, as you'll soon find out.

With Vegas making their first player transaction, here are seven other NHL expansion teams' first player transactions, as per Dan Marrazza of NHL.com.

Kidd, who was selected by the Thrashers, was traded to the Florida Panthers the day after Atlanta selected him.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Wendell Young

The current general manager of the Chicago Wolves, Wendell Young, started just 31 games for Tampa in their first season, recording just 7 wins.

Anaheim Mighty Ducks: Guy Hebert

In June 1993, the Ducks poached Guy Hebert from the Blues to be their first player in franchise history.

Hebert had a decent career with the Ducks as he played 441 games and finished his Anaheim career with a 2.75 goals against average.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Rick Tabaracci

Tabaracci, who was taken by Columbus from Colorado, never played a game for the Blue Jackets.

Nashville Predators: Frederic Chabot

Chabot joins Tabaracci as he didn't play a game for the Predators after being chosen by them.

Florida Panthers: John Vanbiesbrouck

The Florida Panthers became the beneficiaries of the New York Rangers' riches.

The Rangers, who had Vanbiesbrouck and Mike Richter, decided to get something for one of their goalies rather than have one poached by the Panthers, so they traded John to the Canucks.

Vanbiesbrouck was then picked by Panthers as their first player in team history and he helped Florida reach the Stanley Cup Finals in the 1995-96 season.

Ottawa Senators: Peter Sidorkiewicz

Despite going 8-46-3 in his first season in Ottawa, Peter still represented the team in the All-Star game in 1993.

He was traded to the Devils in the summer that followed.
