The Tampa Bay Lightning are off to a scorching start to the season with a 9-1-1 record, and when you look at how their big names are playing, it's easy to understand why they have lost just once in regulation to start the season.

Steven Stamkos (who now has 21 points) and Nikita Kucherov (who now has 12 goals in 11 games) are striking for the Lightning at a ludicrous pace, but they're not the only players off to a hot start this season.

Yes, it's still very early in the season, but there are currently 62 players averaging a point per game or better.

When you dig into the stats, you can tell that the majority of the 62 players averaging a point per game or better have played more than eight games this season, and that makes the stat even more ridiculous.

At some point this season, you have to imagine some, if not most of these players will endure a slump and that number of 62 players will significantly decrease.

Last season, only 11 players finished the season averaging a point per game or better, and in October last season, 41 players average a point per game or more.

For now, though, the significant increase of players averaging a point per game or more is significant (the last time more players averaged a point per game or better in the first month of the season was back in 2012/13, 74 players) and we're interested to see which players can keep this pace up for the entire season.
