Our old friend Pavel Barber was at it again this weekend, staying at the forefront of the hockey dangling community and showing off the new and ever-so-popular fake slap shot.

One of the first places we saw the move was a couple years back when Zach Parise and TJ Oshie were messing around with Go Pro – Oshie pulled it off to perfection. Since then, you see it more and more, especially around NHL practices and warmups. We’re still waiting to see the filthiness pulled off in an actual game, but it’s even reaching outside of the NHL now as well.

It may not be fair to say it’s very far outside the NHL with Pav, because he has some of the best mitts around and he might do this smoother than anyone we’ve seen.

Well, that is, until we saw Aleksander Barkov accept the challenge and do the move himself.

Sorry guys, I had to... 😅 #pavelbarberchallenge @heybarber

As Pav mentioned, we’ve seen Barkov do it before in warmup and things like that, but this is the best view we’ve had of the move. We’d love to see him pull it off in a shootout, because we know he’s one of the more creative players in the league.
