As the Washington Captials started clearing out their lockers, more was revealed about the injuries that Alexander Ovechkin had been playing through.
On top of nursing a knee injury from his collision with Nazem Kadri, he suffered a hamstring injury in Game 3 of their series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He will not require surgery, but other than that, it was somewhat unclear how severe the injuries were. However, Ovechkin’s wife may have given some insight into that.
She shared an image on her Instagram story of the injury and the Caps blog RMNB translated the caption:
The writing on the photo says “That’s hockey [for you]”.
That most certainly is. From Hedman’s injury today to the rest we’ve seen in these playoffs, hockey certainly lives up to its name as one of the toughest sports to play.
