The 2018 Winter Classic will be played on New Year’s day, and the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers will square off on one of hockey’s biggest stages. Both teams have participated in the event once, as the Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in 2012 while the Sabres suffered overtime defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008.

Buffalo’s 2008 uniform was hardly different from the ones they wear today, so a graphic artist did some experimenting and created a new concept that actually turned out to be awesome. Take a look.

Very impressive.

Nowak also recently shared an Anaheim Mighty Ducks design that combined the team’s old and new jerseys.

The logos for the January 1st match have already been released, and the Sabres’ is no different from their regular one. Still, it’s nice to see a new design shared anyway. Below is a look at the 10-year anniversary logo that was posted by the NHL’s Twitter account.

It’ll be interesting to see how both the Sabres', and Rangers’ new jerseys will differ from their previous Winter Classic sweaters.
