It is certainly fair to say that Auston Matthews lived up to the expectations of Leafs Nation in his first season in Toronto. As Matthews kept pouring in goals, Leafs fans continued to shower the rookie with support.
Tuesday, Matthews thanked Leafs fans for all of their support, sharing a post on Instagram that also underlined his excitement for the future of the franchise.
After finishing last season at the bottom of the Easter Conference standings, Matthews helped the Leafs clinch a playoff berth, ending the regular season with 40 goals, breaking the franchise record for most goals scored in a rookie season.
What's next for the Leafs? Who knows, but according to Matthews...it's "only the beginning."
