Taking Newfoundland for the start of training camp, the Leafs also made sure to get in on a local tradition: the screech-in.

The Leafs are getting the full Newfoundland experience 😘🐟 . (πŸ“Έ: @mapleleafs)

Yes, they kissed the fish! After all, when in Newfoundland, do as the Newfies do.

Post screech-in analysis from the Leafs was hilariously on point. Auston Matthews was happy he got to go first, while Tyson Barrie was one of the last to go and less than pleased about it.

Auston... you can’t say that! But when it comes to kissing a fish, is it ever not going to be all slobbery and wet? Like, either way, it’s still going to be a fish, you know?

It’s nice to see the Leafs enjoying their time in Newfoundland, and it looks like local Leafs fans over there have embraced the team as well. When Mitch Marner returned to the ice after officially signing his new contract, he got a nice little ovation from the fans in attendance for camp.
