While Columbus did a great job of holding Sidney Crosby in check in Game 1, the best player in the world had a three-point night on Friday to lead the Pens to victory.

Friday night, the Columbus Dispatch also decided to make headlines by tweeting out they'd be giving out crying Crosby masks ahead of Game 3 in Ohio.

Columbus Dispatch deleted this tweet

The tweet has since been deleted because they scrapped the idea after the response to the idea from hockey fans.

Here's some of the backlash from fans once the giveaway announcement was made:

Probably a good idea by the Columbus Dispatch to can the giveaway considering the backlash and how the series has gone so far.

Fans were happy about the fact the giveaway was cancelled, too.

Game 3 goes Sunday, and we're sure between now and then Crosby will be asked about the masks.
