'The Simpsons' has managed to remain popular for so many years for many reasons.

Obviously the show makes people laugh, but more importantly the audience connects and relates with it well.  As sports fans, part of that has to do with the fact that the show incorporates athletes and sports whenever it can.

For example, Wayne Gretzky made a cameo on the show in December of 2016, and we bet hockey fans all over the world tuned in to watch that episode.

As big as Wayne Gretzky is, though, there's another sports related episode that is considered one of the best episodes of all-time by many that is set to be honoured by the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The 25th anniversary of the episode 'Homer at the Bat' is coming up on May 27th, and according to the Associated Press, the Baseball Hall of Fame will honour the episode that featured future Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr., Wade Boggs and Ozzie Smith.

Don Mattingly, Mike Scioscia, Jose Canseco, Steve Sax, Roger Clemens, and Darryl Strawberry were also in the episode, and voices of the actual players were used.

For those who need a little background info on the episode, Mr. Burns brought in MLB players to play on the nuclear power plant's softball team so he could win a bet, and Homer losses his spot in right field to Strawberry, but he plays hero when it's all said and done.

Congrats to 'Homer at the Bat' on the upcoming silver anniversary!
