The Dallas Stars were one of the busiest NHL franchises during the offseason.

The Stars made their first significant offseason move in May when they acquired Ben Bishop’s rights from the Los Angeles Kings and then signed him to a new deal a few days later.

They followed up that move by acquiring Marc Methot from the Vegas Golden Knights, and then went on to sign Martin Hanzal, Tyler Pitlick and Alexander Radulov shortly after.

On Saturday afternoon, the team’s new starting goalie made his first appearance in front of his new hometown, only he wasn’t showing off his skills in between the pipes.

Bishop was the Rangers’ special guest for their afternoon contest with the New York Yankees, and he got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game.

Bishop also got to take in some batting practice before the game, and he also got a tour of the stadium.

The 30-year-old is a little familiar with the hockey scene in Texas as he spent time with the North American Hockey League’s Texas Tornado when he was 17-years-old. In 45 games with the Tornado, the Denver, Colorado native posted a 35-8 record with a 1.93 goals against average, a .920 save percentage and five shutouts.
