On this July 1st, Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday, and the Toronto Blue Jays are playing their annual Canada Day game against the Boston Red Sox in Toronto.

With it being Canada Day, the Blue Jays are wearing special Canada Day jerseys and hats for the occasion. With Canada Day’s proximity to the American holiday Independence Day, which takes place on the Fourth of July, the Red Sox are also wearing Stars and Stripes for the holiday in the United States.

When Jays’ fans saw the Red Sox players were rocking American flag gear, they saw it as disrespectful to Canada and began posting online:

Our own Scott Mitchell stepped in to remind everyone what the Jays wore on July 4th just last season…

Blue Jays' fans - are you upset the Red Sox are wearing stars and stripes?
