Jermell Charlo’s second middleweight title defence against Erickson Lubin last night ended in a hurry.

With less than 30 seconds remaining in the first round, Charlo knocked Lubin out with a huge blow to the chin. The punch earned Charlo the win and a grand cash prize of $450,000.

Speaking to ESPN after the fight, Charlo had some choice words about how his opponent handled himself ahead of their tilt.

The following is an excerpt from For The Win via ESPN:

“They were giving him a lot of attention. I was quiet the whole time. They said they were going to come take my title. I had to defend it. They didn’t know what I was brining into this and I think (Lubin) was worried about the wrong things.”

Clearly rattled, Charlo later ended his ‘quietness’ with a very direct shot at Lubin. The champ released a series of tweets earlier today which included video footage of the knockout and cryptically stated, ‘keep your mouth running’.

He then continued with:

Lubin has yet to respond on his own Twitter account, and to be honest, there’s not much he can really say. It’s nice to see an athlete get the job done on the playing surface, but Charlo may have gone a bit overboard, especially since he already had won the fight and nearly half of a million dollars.

Lubin is viewed as one of boxing's most promising stars, so it will be interesting to see how the youngster does if/when the two meet again.
