Bad idea: vandalizing a professional sports team's bus. Worse idea: vandalizing the bus of a professional sports team you support.

Some fans have a very strange, poorly thought out and downright dumb way of showing their support to their favourite team. Saturday, Premier League side Middlesborough made the trip to London to play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. In a successful attempt to be an idiot, someone vandalized what they thought was Middlesborough's team bus.

You see, the thing is, Middlesborough didn't actually take the bus to London, they flew and the coach they took to the stadium was borrowed from Crystal Palace. According to the Sun, the graffiti job came with a pretty high price tag, with Cristal Palace's assistant heads groundsman tweeting that it would cost upwards of £40,000 to fix the damage.

Palace’s assistant head groundsman, Dean Waters, tweeted: “£40,000 worth of damage on our coach thinking it was the Boro coach. Nice one! #cpfc”

Waters changed his Twitter settings to hide the message shortly afterwards but it was too late to keep the story from coming out.

Not so smooth criminals...
