This fact applies for pitchers as well as they have such little time to react to a comebacker just to get out of the way of it, let alone make a play on the ball.
When a pitcher does make a play on a comebacker, however, it's usually incredible, and that was the case Tuesday night.
In a game against Columbus, Buffalo Bisons pitcher Matt Dermody made a ridiculous between-the-legs grab on a comebacker that is a catch of the year contender.
Now that's how you flash the leather.
Dermody, who's in the Blue Jays system, is 5-1 with the Bisons this year and has made one appearance with the big club this season.
Although his one appearance for the Jays was a bit of a disaster (0.1 innings pitched, five earned runs), the catch he made was anything but that. (H/T: SportsCenter)
