18-year Denis Shapovalov defeated 8th seed Jo-Fried Tsonga at the US Open to advance to the third round of the grand slam in straight sets on Wednesday night.

After an impressive outing at the Rogers Cup, the young Canadian is on a roll. Fans and media across the country, and in the tennis world were zoned in on the Ontario product’s 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (3) big victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Up next, Shapovalov will face Kyle Edmund, who he beat at the Queen’s Open Championship earlier this season. He’s 1-1  all-time against Edmund, as his loss came from being disqualified at the Davis Cup for hitting the umpire with a tennis ball. It's safe to say the Shapovalov bandwagon is growing bigger with each victory.

Not bad for an 18-year-old kid.
