The Canadian men's national wheelchair basketball team took part in the 2017 Americas Cup in Cali, Colombia, this past summer and did very well in the tournament.

Team Canada went head-to-head with Venezuela on August 25 and they cruised to a dominant 91-41 victory. Fergus, Ontario native Patrick Anderson had a big game for his squad as he finished with a game-high 33 points and shot 92 per cent from inside the three-point line.

Anderson also came up with some big assists during the game, including this awesome behind-the-back pass to Regina, Saskatchewan native Nik Goncin, who finished off the play with two of his 14 points.

The team ended up making it to the finals, but fell short against the United States, 54-50, to capture the silver medal. Despite losing in the final, the team managed to qualify for the World Wheelchair Basketball Tournament which will take place next year from August 16-26 in Hamburg, Germany.
