Emergency goalies often get to live out their dream of of just dressing for an NHL game and sitting on the bench, but rarely do they ever get to play.

That being said, Carolina's equipment manager, Jorge Alves, who signed a pro tryout contract Saturday in an emergency situation, got the chance to make his NHL debut and dreams come true against Tampa Bay.

Alves, who has been the team's equipment manager since the 2012-13 season, got to go in the game for the last 7.6 seconds.

After the game, Alves talked about the experience.

What a classy move from head coach Bill Peters to get Alves into the game and the history books.

The team made him feel right at home, too, judging by the fact that they sent him out alone for the warmup skate.

This story, as amazing as it already is, gets even better, though, as Alves also taped sticks and sharpened skates during the game, too.
