For some hockey players, hearing their name called during the entry draft is the greatest moment of their life.

Vancouver first-round pick Elias Pettersson was the first Swede to come off the board, and to say he made his family back home proud is an understatement. After the center had a chance to rock his new threads for the first time, he came across a video on his phone of his brother celebrating like a lunatic. The 18-year-old had trouble containing his emotions as he watched.

The draft began at 1:00 AM in Sweden, but that evidently wasn’t enough to stop those close to Pettersson from screaming their guts out. Joining the Canucks organization is especially unique, as he will have a chance to play and learn from Sweden’s very own Sedin twins. Talk about a dream come true.

Pettersson has been compared to fellow Swede Nicklas Backstrom, so he’ll definitely be a player to keep track of over the coming years.

A big congratulations to Elias and his family.
