An essential part of NHL success is how well teams can to bond on and off the ice. Earlier today, we saw a little tilly at Canadiens camp, where two Habs prospects dropped the mitts. While that might not be the best way to form a relationship, it could make for a good laugh down the road.

Off the ice, there’s no better way to build some companionship doing fun activities like scavenger hunts, whitewater rafting and cooking competitions.

That’s exactly what’s been doing down at the Vancouver Canucks development camp in the wonderful Whistler, B.C., and at the University of British Columbia.

The camp kicked off their off-ice activities in Whistler on Canada Day with the prospects going through with a team scavenger hunt through Whistler Village.

Next up, the youngsters tested their limits and put the teamwork to task as they went white water rafting. Some of them even had the stones to jump in the freezing glacier rapids. Luckily, killer whales aren’t found in rivers.

#VanDevCamp was all about bonding on Day 3. The rapids didn't stand a chance. 💪

Lastly, the prospects returned to Vancouver and headed to the kitchen, where they took in an Iron Chef challenge, perhaps the most daunting task of all considering hockey players aren’t particularly known for being great cooks.

The prospects have traded in their sneakers, paddles and aprons for their skates, sticks and helmets and have hit the ice out at UBC. First-round picks Olli Juolevi and Brock Boeser are present; as well all of their 2017 draft picks, headlined by 5th overall pick Elias Pettersson.
