The Columbus Blue Jackets entered Thursday night’s action one win shy of tying the NHL record for longest winning streak, which was set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins. However, all good things must come to an end and that’s exactly what happened to the Blue Jackets’ streak on Thursday night against Washington.

The Capitals wasted no time getting on the board, as they scored just over five minutes into the opening frame and followed that up with another goal just over six minutes later. They didn’t stop there, though, as the Caps unloaded for five goals against the Jackets to hand them their first loss since late November. After the game, the Capitals Twitter account added to the victory with the tweet of the night.

Perhaps the Caps’ social team got some inspiration from this fan’s sign.

Just like their hockey team, the Blue Jackets have one of the best social media teams in the league and they replied to the Caps with an excellent (and hilarious) response.

Of course, they were just joking around and it’s all fun and games. After all, the Blue Jackets are 7 wins shy of last year’s total and they’re not even halfway through the season.
