Preseason games in the NHL are important for veterans to get into the swing of things for the upcoming season, for young stars to continue to improve and for rookies or prospects to show why they deserve to make the team.

It's not uncommon to see rookies make mistakes during the preseason as they adjust to NHL hockey, but it's rare to see a rookie or prospect make the mistake Jonas Siegenthaler made during Washington's game against Montreal Wednesday night.

Before the start of the second period, Siegenthaler was caught jumping into the wrong bench and fans loved the classic mixup.

Siegenthaler's teammates loved the mistake even more, though.

As Wilson said, it was a classic mixup indeed and it's one that will get any hockey fan or player to crack up a little bit.
