This past weekend, former Toronto Raptor and Flint, Michigan native Morris Peterson conducted the second annual Hoop 4 Water celebrity basketball game. The event took place at Dort Federal Event Centre, and benefits residents who are still enduring Flint’s water crisis.

Peterson was a former standout at Flint Northwestern High, before heading to Michigan State where he ultimately captured a national championship. The game, which was played in front of 350 people, featured various celebrities, including Detroit Pistons point guard Ish Smith…

Harlem Globetrotter Carlos ‘Dizzy’ English…

And others, including former NFL running back Joique Bell and former boxing champion Zab Judah. Even some of the Detroit Pistons cheerleaders made an appearance.

Snoop Dogg was scheduled to play, but unfortunately missed his flight. The rapper is familiar with the water crisis, as he has visited the city multiple times in the past year, and met with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver to discuss how he can deal with the situation.

In the end, MoPete’s team (green) ultimately won, but he was just happy to help his community.

Peterson continues to display the importance of helping and giving back to the place where you come from.
