Sarunas Jasikevicius is a former NBA player and the current head coach of Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian League.

Known as a EuroLeague Basketball Legend, Jasikevicius is well respected throughout the league. However, he recently made the decision to let one of his players take some time off during their playoff run so he could be there for the birth of his child and one reporter wasn’t too happy about the coach’s decision.

Thinking he would get the entire room on his side by questioning Jasikevicius about his decision, the reporter was quickly shut down by the coach who ended up giving him some advice about life.

Jasikevicius was clearly shocked that the reporter questioned his choice to let one of his players miss time during the playoffs to be there for his wife and to witness the birth of his child, and he shut down the reporter with a few awesome responses.

It doesn’t matter if they’re making the league minimum or league maximum, professional athletes are still human beings and should be allowed to take the time they need during life-changing moments like the birth of a child.
