Two months has passed since Flyod Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor to move his professional boxing record to 50-0, and the first hint of a potential rematch has already been thrown out there by none ofther than the trash-talking Irishmen himself.

In an interview with BBC Sport, McGregor acknowledged that he wouldn’t call Mayweather to fight him again since he’s retired, but made no hesitations that he’d win a rematch if it were to ever occur.

The 40-year-old Mayweather and declared retirement following the tenth round TKO victory on August 26, but that hasn’t stopped the 29-year-old McGregor from stating that he’d beat Mayweather if he was given a rematch.

The two fighters haven’t formally spoken about it, so at this point it’s unlikely to happen. McGregor claims that Floyd previously promised to a rematch under the discretion of mixed martial arts rules.

A rematch is nothing more than a pipe dream at this point for UFC and boxing fans. But the consensus was that the original super fight would never come to fruition in the first place so anything is possible, as Kevin Garnett once pegged.

While many predicted a Mayweather win, the fight was much closer than first anticipated, leaving the door open ever so slightly for round two.

The two-weight UFC champ did double down that he would be returning to the octagon for his next bout, so don’t get your hopes up for a super fight rematch anytime soon.
