Conor McGregor appears to be fully committed to making a fight with Floyd Mayweather happen, and it may not be until it does that we’ll see him in the octagon again.

Still, people are curious who he will face next and his coach, John Kavanagh, offered some insight into that. He was on Submission radio ahead of UFC 209 and he had a lot to say. At about the 14:20 mark in the video below, he is asked what he is leaning towards for a fight after Mayweather and he mentions Nate Diaz, the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson and George St-Pierre.

Here’s the full quote:

“Which opponent? I’ve said it before, the Nate rematch interests me a lot, because it’s 1-1 and how the styles match up. Almost on par with that, not much different, would be the winner of Khabib and Ferguson this weekend.

I think Khabib does it, so, I think Khabib would be the winner…Below that, would be GSP. Purely because GSP was an incredible fighter, big fan of him, I’ve learned a lot from watching him fight. But, it’s a long time since he’s fought and the game changes very, very quickly. I think Khabib is sort of like a better version of GSP, although we don’t know how GSP and Khabib would matchup. ”

Of course, we just found out that GSP will make his return against Michael Bisping, so whether or not McGregor would have any interest in fighting him would be dependent on how he performs in that fight.

BREAKING: George St-Pierre will start his #UFC comeback against middleweight title holder, Michael Bisping.
