We’re inching closer and closer to the start of the 2017-18 NHL regular season as players have started to return to the cities they call home for the hockey season so they can hit the ice with some of their teammates.

Plenty of Coyotes players have already returned to Arizona to prepare for the upcoming season, only they weren’t taking part in hockey related activities on Friday night.

The Arizona Diamondbacks hosted their annual Coyotes Night at the ballpark and members of the Coyotes got treated to a VIP experience as the D-Backs looked to add another W to their franchise-high 13-game winning streak.

One of the newest members of the Coyotes, Derek Stepan, got the night started by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch in front of his new hometown crowd.

Stepan’s pitch was pretty high over the plate, but that’s not why the Coyotes traded for him.

Welcome to Arizona, Derek Stepan! Thanks to the @ArizonaCoyotes center for coming to help kick off #CoyotesNight. #AllAZ

Although Coyotes Night didn’t actually begin until the gates opened for the game, members of the Coyotes got to join the Diamondbacks on the field ahead of the game for their batting practice and got to put their hitting skills on display for the professional baseball players.

The D-Backs also changed things up for batting practice and rocked some pretty awesome Coyotes-themed caps for their pre-game workouts.

Unfortunately the D-Backs’ impressive winning streak came to an end on Coyotes Night, but it was an evening the players will never forget for the rest of their lives.
