It’s not easy being the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. At least that’s what Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon seems to think.

Earlier today, Tallon jokingly expressed sympathy towards Habs GM Marc Bergevin for having to deal with such a large number of media members on a daily basis. In the process, he managed to poke fun at the Panthers’ woeful attendance numbers.

The comment is funny, but sadly a reality. Florida currently sit 29th in the league with an average home attendance number of 12,430, while Montreal sits second with 21,302. The Panthers have finished in the bottom ten in the category in each season since the 2005-06 campaign.

The two teams are set to square off on December 30 at BB&T Center, and you can expect there to be a ton of Habs fans in attendance. The organizations usually face off in Florida around News Years time each season and thousands of Montreal die-hards generally make the trip out.

Tallon and Bergevin worked together for The Chicago Blackhawks in the past, so it’s hardly a surprise to see him jokingly show pity for his old friend. Bergevin has served as the Canaidens GM since 2012 and has reached the Eastern Conference Finals once during his tenure. If he doesn't turn the Canadiens' losing season around soon, then he'll surely continue to face disgruntled media members on a daily basis going forward.
