DeMar DeRozan had the best season of his career last season and he is being rewarded with a video game cover this season.

The cover athlete for the worldwide version has Kyrie Irving on it, but DeRozan’s image will appear on NBA2K’s first ever Canadian edition of the game. After a season in which he finished top-5 in scoring, it was only fitting that he’d become the cover.

Any other year, DeRozan may have actually had a shot at making the worldwide cover, but with a plethora of unbelievable seasons we’re sure he’ll settle for the Canadian cover.

However, even the current cover athlete feels a little underwhelming this season, as 2K seemed to lay their bets on the Cavs by putting Kyrie Irving on the cover. The stories coming out of the season seem to surround Russell Westbrook, The Warriors and the teams with new acquisitions.

Still, perhaps next season will be Kyrie’s big step forward and the 2K cover will have a kind of reverse Madden curse. Tom Brady seems to feel that he’ll avoid the Madden curse and we’re sure Uncle Drew feels the same way.
