A couple of days ago, the NHL released an animated short on the origin of the playoff beard which was narrated by New York Islanders legend Bryan Trottier.

The seven-time Stanley Cup champion was a member of the Islanders dynasty that won the Stanley Cup four straight seasons from 1980-1983 and helped start one of the greatest traditions in sports; the playoff beard.

On Sunday, the NHL released another awesome animated short. This one is narrated by Denis Savard and is all about the sacrifices you need to make in order to win the Stanley Cup.

It’s easy for any hockey player to tell everyone they’re alright and they’re going to get back into the game, but it takes some serious guts to be able to tell the rest your team and your coach that you’re not ready to go, especially during the old school hockey days.

Even though Savard didn’t get to raise the Stanley Cup in his Montreal Canadiens uniform, he knew he was still going to get his name on the Cup and be part of the celebration, so he decided to get everyone involved in the fun.

He's the type of character you want on your team, even if he openly admits to not wanting to block any shots.
