Deshaun Watson is still a relatively new name around the NFL. The rookie quarterback first stepped into the NFL spotlight when he replaced Texans starter Tom Savage at halftime of Week 1. The game was already fairly lopsided at 19-0, so Watson’s entrance into the game was a “let’s see what you can do” sort of moment.

Watson lead the Texans down the field and scored a touchdown on the first drive, instantly winning his way into the Houston faithful’s hearts. Not only that, he got Deandre Hopkins involved for the rest of the game, a feat that Texan fans have been craving after last years disappointment.

While he still has wrinkles to iron out in his game, his heart and compassion is undeniable after the emergence of a video. In the clip, Watson is shown gifting his first game check to the staff at NRG Stadium. The staff had been effected by Hurricane Harvey, and Watson wanted to make sure that they knew he appreciated all the hard work they had put in despite the situation.

Watson will likely continue to grow into Houston’s heart, especially if he is able to put his game together and start leading the success-starved Texans teams to more drives like his first.
