Casual basketball fans might be wondering why no major award winners have been announced as of yet.

Usually during the playoffs, the NBA rolls out the award winners, including the league's MVP.

This season, however, things are very different as there will be an Awards show for the first-time ever on June 26th.

The NBA is following in the footsteps of the NHL and NFL with an award show, and in order to fully do that, they needed to find a host for the event.

Well, they found one, and it's somebody people from Toronto know very well.

The one and only Drake took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce he'd be hosting the league's first-ever awards show, and the fit is perfect.

Drake is the Raptors' ambassador, he's friends with a ton of superstars in the NBA and we imagine most of the players love his music.

This isn't Drake's first sports-related hosting gig of his career, either, so it should be an awesome night in New York and we imagine he's going to tear the house down.
