David Ayres is quite the hot commodity right now, after capturing EBUG glory for the Carolina Hurricanes. Obviously, everyone wants to bring him in now, including the ECHL’s Florida Everblades... as their emergency back-up Zamboni driver for the weekend.
They even put up a full press release detailing their interest in signing Ayres on their team website! You have to respect the commitment to the bit.
Yeah, after his big win in goal for the Carolina Hurricanes, we think Ayres has a couple better offers out there on the job market... although we doubt many of them can offer the chance to beat a team in the Leafs organization for the second time in a week.
The Everblades are playing the Leafs ECHL affiliate Newfoundland Growlers on Friday, as head coach Brad Ralph jokingly noted.
