During the NHL playoffs last season, there were a ton of players that battled through excruciating pain for a chance to help their team win the Stanley Cup.

Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators was easily one of those players.

The Senators captain played 534 minutes in the postseason and was the driving force behind Ottawa's stellar run to the Eastern Conference Final.

This offseason, he had surgery to repair tendons in his foot, and Wednesday he revealed more shocking details about the surgery.

How much more impressive was Karlsson's playoff run knowing what we know now?

The fact that he played through the injury and put surgery aside until the Senators were out was insane, and the fact that he's skating again right now is crazy, too.

Although there isn't a timetable for his return, Karlsson is eyeing Ottawa's first regular season game on October 5th as the date to be back in the lineup as he hasn't played this preseason, and understandably so.
