Junior hockey is one place that you’re bound to find highlight reel goals. Whether it’s the disparity in age and skill level, or the difference in physical maturity, there’s just simply more ice to maneuver around if a player possesses elite attributes.

On Sunday, the Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips did battle from the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon.

With the game tied 2-2 late in the final frame, Silvertips forward Patrick Bajkov gained the Winterhawks zone and decided to hold up and wait for his teammates to get in position.

Bajkov was pressured, and dragged the puck away from a defender where he was then met by another Winterhawk. Bajkov made a similar move to drive wide and took the puck to the net as he cut through the left faceoff circle. Instead of driving around the net for a wraparound, the Nanaimo, B.C. product fooled everyone and tucked one in behind the Portland ‘tendy for a spectacular goal.

Bajkov finished with two goals on the night, including that game-winner with 29.8 seconds to play to give Everett a 3-2 victory.

The 19-year-old is scoring at over a point per game for Everett with 7 goals and 16 assists in 16 games on the season. Based on that goal alone, you can see why Bajkov was invited to the Vegas Golden Knights inaugural rookie camp this past summer, as he pretty much skated through the entire Winterhawks line that was deployed on the ice.
