Referees have one of the toughest jobs in the world in our opinion.
Although it seems easy to some to go out there and make the correct call in every situation every single time, the reality is that's never going to happen.
Referees are human and they make mistakes, but in the eyes of fans, players and coaches, they're supposed to be perfect, which just isn't possible.
An official's mistakes lead to fans and players letting them have it, whether that be in the form of some harsh words or in the form of a sign.
Obviously it's a lot easier to yell something at a referee, but a funny sign is less hurtful, we imagine.
Take this sign, for example, made by a student who brought it to Norfolk high school basketball game.
Easily the bets sign of the year, and we wouldn't argue with you if you thought it was the best of all-time.
In fact, we'd like to think that even the referees at the game got a kick out of the incredibly creative sign.
Hats off to this kid for putting a modern spin on a classic tradition.
