Professional athletes receive many requests from their fans for some kind of memorabilia or signed equipment, but some fans need it more than others.

For example, Luke, who has been diagnosed with terminal angiosarcoma.

A teacher at Luke’s school knew that he was a huge hockey fan, so he reached out to someone thought could put bring a smile to the boy’s face. “Mr. Cole”, as he is referred to on Luke’s mother’s Facebook, reached out to Nick and Marcus Foligno and they came through in a major way.

As you can see in the picture below, Nick had the entire Columbus Blue Jackets roster sign his jersey and Marcus put a personalized message on his own.

Foligno Brothers put a smile on a child with cancer

Here is what Luke’s step-father had to say in his post on Reddit.

“My son has terminal angiosarcoma. We are a huge hockey family. A school teacher in our area we never met before knows the Foligno family and reached out to Nick and Marcus. They responded by sending Luke their jerseys, both personlized to him. Amazing and made his Mother and I cry. First smile he has had in two weeks.

I cannot thank Nick and Marcus enough. Even though Luke is a diehard Pens fan and I a Ranger, you guys have huge fans now for life!

Nick and Marcus lost their mother Janis to cancer and now have a charity in her honor, Janis Foligno Foundation

Way to go, Folignos! It's amazing how much gestures from these atheltes can mean to someone, and the Folignos surely have a couple fans for life after this.

We wish the whole family well in their journey moving forward; Hopefully there are many more smiles like this one to come.
