After a decade of dissapoint, Oilers fans have finally been rewarded for their patience this season.

Led by Connor McDavid, the Oilers are days away from potentially clinching a playoff berth for the first time since the 2005-06 season when they made it to the Stanley Cup Final.

Edmonton's latest win came Saturday night against the Avalanche, and in the victory, another long and unfortunate streak came to an end thanks to Leon Draisaitl.

His assist against the Avs gave the Oilers a pair of 70-plus point players for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

Can you guess the last two Oilers to accomplish the feat?  Here's a hint, one of them is currently playing for the Dallas Stars and the other last played for the Anaheim Ducks.

Give up?  Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff are the answers.

Hemsky recorded 77 points that season while Horcoff registered 73.

The Oilers almost had four players with 70 or more points that season, but Ryan Smyth finished four points short of the mark while Jarret Stoll finished two points shy.

We imagine Edmonton fans are hoping this is a good omen.  Not only do they want to see their team in the playoffs, but they want to see them win a Stanley Cup, something the team hasn't done since the 1989-90 season.
