Andrew Gordon was selected in the seventh round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals, but only went on to play 55 games in the NHL before heading overseas to play in the Swedish Hockey League.

Currently playing in his third season with Linkopings HC, the 31-year-old is in some hot water after laying out a brutal hit in his team’s last game.

Gordon ended up catching former St. Louis Blues prospect Sebastian Wännström with an elbow to the head as he released a shot from right outside the faceoff circle, which left him down on the ice for a few minutes.

As for Gordon, he received a 25-minute penalty and a game misconduct and was later given a five-game suspension for his hit.
