Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre joined an exclusive list on Sunday afternoon as he became just the 31st player in MLB history to rack up 3,000 career hits.

The five-time Gold Glove Award winner moved into a tie with Roberto Clemente for 30th on the all-time hits list with 3,000, and 60 hits back of active leader Ichiro Suzuki, who has 3,060 career hits.

Shortly after Beltre recorded his 3,000 career hit, the Fort Worth Zoo decided to honour of the 38-year-old’s major milestone by naming the zoo’s brand new male giraffe calf after him.

The Fort Worth Zoo was just one of many local establishments that congratulated Beltre on his big achievement.

Even Dallas Stars legend Mike Modano congratulated Beltre on his 3,000th hit.

Not many players can say they’ve racked up 3,000 career hits at the Major League level, but Adrian Beltre is now one of those few people who can say he has done it.
