Jean-Gabriel Pageau is a hometown hero in Ottawa, having been born in the city and raised just across the river in Gatineau, Quebec.

He hasn’t been a prolific scorer for most of his NHL career, but has instead been an effective role player on the team. He drives play like a good bottom-six player should, but he showed on Saturday night that he might have more to offer on the offensive end as well.

You’ve likely heard it by now, but Pageau potted 4 goals on the night, including the OT winner to give Ottawa a 2-0 series lead over the Rangers.

Jean-Gabriel #Pageau had himself a day for the #Senators in Game 2.

This was one of the biggest performances is Sens postseason history, but Pageau isn’t letting it go to his head. Trina Fraser, an Ottawa lawyer, posted a before and after photo of her son at the Sens game. In the first, he’s wearing a hat. In the second, he’s way more excited and is noticeably not wearing at hat. We’re pretty sure you can put together what happened to his hat.

Pageau saw this tweet and decided to reward the young fan. It seems as though he’s going to replace the hat.

Sens fan and popular blogger, Bonk’s Mullet, joked that he’d also like to cash in on the kindness.

We doubt he’ll get a car, but who knows, maybe he’ll get a hat too for making Pageau laugh.
