The Buffalo Sabres have had a rough couple of weeks. With their rebuild not progressing at the rate that ownership or fans had hoped, they cleaned out their front office.

Even worse, rumours started to spread about Jack Eichel being unhappy with the team’s coach and making demands to have Dan Bylsma removed. Both Eichel and his agents denied the reports, but that didn’t stop hockey fans from running rampant with memes and other internet tricks that named Eichel as the Coach, Owner and GM of the team.

Well, apparently Google’s algorithm picked up on one of those jokes because if you Google search “Sabres general manager” right now, this is the result.

The same thing happens if you search other combinations like “Buffalo Sabres GM” and “Sabres GM”.

Not only that, but the if you enter similar searches but replace GM with Owner, you get the same results.

Clearly, Jack Eichel is not the GM and Owner of the team, but Google’s algorithm has likely been tricked by some of the Wikipedia pranks that were played in recent weeks.

We’re not sure how soon this will change, but it may give the Sabres reason to speed up their GM search a little bit. It’s probably not ideal to have your front office look like a joke on the biggest search engine in the world.
