Home improvement was very popular during the 1990’s, right around the time when the Detroit Red Wings were one of the NHL’s most dominant franchises. Well, their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, decided to remake the introduction for the show as part of the team’s 90’s night. The graphics are a bit higher quality, but everything for the most part is pretty on point.
There’s lots to like about the video, but our favoruite part is when Tyler Bertuzzi basically appears out of nowhere.
The Rapids aren’t the first hockey team to remake a classic this season. Recently, the USHL’s Chicago Steel released a Wayne’s World parody in honour of the movie’s 25th anniversary.
Making parodies from the hit series ‘Full House’ has also become a trend, so we’ll have to see which show/movie is targeted next.
