Over the weekend, the Dallas Stars retired Jere Lehtinen’s jersey and they paid him a special tribute in their warmups.

Not only did all the current players rock his throwback jersey, but they all wore yellow laces, just like he did throughout his career. With some of the new Stars greats skating around in these vintage jerseys, fans decided that they couldn’t help but hope these jerseys would be making a more permanent return.

There are no alternate jerseys in the NHL this season, so they’ll have to wait for when those get added or a winter classic, but that didn’t stop them from wishing.

It will be interesting to see if the Dallas Stars end up adding a throwback jersey in the near future, because they are one of few teams in the league that have never used a throwback jersey. In fact, they have only had one truly separate alternate jersey and that didn’t go so well…
