For the second straight season, one of the few bright spots for the Buffalo Sabres was the second overall pick in 2015, Jack Eichel.

The 20-year-old missed some time at the beginning of the season, but he's been one of the most dominant players in the league since returning.

In 61 games, Eichel posted 57 points to surpass his career high of 56 from his rookie campaign in 21 less games.

Unfortunately for Eichel, though, the Sabres missed the playoffs for sixth consecutive season and Buffalo lost their final game of the season Sunday night.

The misfortune didn't stop there for Eichel, though, as he missed out on a two million dollar bonus later in the night.

Not only did Eichel get knocked out of the top ten Sunday night, but he missed out on the top ten by 0.01 in the points per game column after missing 21 games during the season.

If you don't think things could get any worse for Jack, consider this: the man on the top of the points per game list, Connor McDavid (the number one pick in 2015), locked up his first career Art Ross trophy in the win.

THE FUTURE IS NOW: #ConnorMcDavid finishes the NHL regular season as the league leader in points with 100.

It can only get better for Eichel, right?
